ItsYourLeave California Parental Leave Essential Plan

Get the Longest, Best-Paid Parental Leave You Didn’t Even Know You Could Take

What if I told you that you could take months of paid parental leave—without stressing over HR emails, second-guessing the rules, or losing income?

I’m talking about knowing exactly what to say to your employer, what to submit to the state, and in what order—so you can step away from work with a paycheck still coming in… and your job waiting when you get back.

Because here’s the truth:
It’s not just about what benefits your company offers.
It’s not just about filling out a few forms.
It’s about knowing how to use California’s programs together—so you get the maximum time, money, and job protection the law allows.

Once you understand how the system works, it’s like finding a hidden door to more time with your baby and more money in your bank account.

Before You Book — Quick Check!

Let’s make sure you’re a good fit.

How State Disability (SDI) Works in California (aka how you get paid to take time off)

If you’re pregnant, recovering from birth, or bonding with your new baby—California might actually pay you while you’re out.

What is SDI?
SDI = State Disability Insurance. If you qualify, it pays you every week you can’t work for medical reasons + bonding time (for both birthing and non-birthing parents who pay into it).

How much do you get?
Most people get 70–90% of their paycheck, tax-free.

You qualify if your paystub/W-2 shows:

  • CA-SDI

  • CASDI

  • CA-Disability

You don’t qualify if:

  • Your paystub says VPDI (a private plan)

  • You’re self-employed and don’t pay yourself as a W-2 employee

  • You work for a federal job (USPS, military, VA hospital)

Not sure? DM me on Instagram or email [email protected].
If you book and it turns out you’re not eligible, I’ll refund you—no questions asked.

Why Listen to Me?

I’m Brittney—a California parental leave consultant who has helped over 900 parents turn what they thought was “maybe 12 weeks” into 7+ months of paid leave.

After going through my own awful leave experience, I made it my mission to help expecting parents to be empowered to learn their benefits and take the most time!

Here’s what I’ve learned:
It’s not about your job title.
It’s not about having the “right” boss.
It’s about having a plan—and knowing how to work the rules in your favor.

That’s how my clients have taken longer leave than they thought possible, gotten more pay than HR predicted, and returned to work on their own terms—without losing their jobs or benefits.

The Story That Still Fires Me Up

One of my clients—let’s call her Sarah—was told by HR she could take 12 weeks off, unpaid. She assumed that was her only option.

But after we worked together?
She took 31 weeks off, with pay almost the entire time.
Same job. Same benefits. Same programs HR already knew about.

The difference? She knew exactly what to file, when to file it, and how to stack her leave protections.

The Essential Plan for California Parents Who Pay Into CA-SDI

Want to take months off for baby and get paid—but have no clue where to start?
This is the plan that makes sure you don’t mess it up.

What most people don’t know:
If you live in California and pay into CA-SDI, you could get up to $850/week, tax-free, for 6–7 months.
That’s $20K–$40K in benefits for most of my clients.

But here’s the catch:
The system is confusing on purpose.
Mess up your paperwork or file too early? You could lose weeks of pay.
HR won’t help. Google will just confuse you more.

That’s why I built this.

What People Are Saying:

After working together, I felt a huge sense of relief and confidence. I was able to plan my time with my newborn in a way that felt intentional and supported, without second-guessing the logistics. I walked away with clarity on what to expect, and more mental space to actually focus on my family.

I was able to successfully take 5.5 months of maternity leave and felt so at peace knowing I did all I could to be home with my baby as much as I possibly could!” “I felt so relieved that I understood the maternity policies of the state and my employer, and confident that I could go to my employer with knowledge and education about the subject to be able to request the leave I am entitled to.

Brittney has been completely instrumental in navigating my maternity leave. I work for a small company with only 2 employees and I was worried I wouldn’t qualify for the typical benefits, however she was able to explain exactly what myself and my husband would quality for and how to start that process. Her zoom call was super thorough and effective! She provided a cheat sheet style timeline to make the process as easy to understand as possible. It included important dates and tasks to be completed and in what order to maximize benefits. I can’t recommend her enough to any other expectant mothers and fathers! Her advice allowed me to take full advantage of my leave and be confident with my benefits.

So far I have collected $25,225.72 since I went on leave! Thank you so much! This doesn’t even include my private disability insurance pay which is an additional 8k total!”
